Fun things to do with the kids on a snow day
You can only have so many snowball fights and make so many snow angels before being cold and wet gets a little old (despite what our four-year-old, Caroline, might say). Here are some fun things to do with the kids on a snow day:
- Get out an old photo album and share stories of people and places from when you were your child's age.
- Close the blinds, turn out the lights, light some candles and read a book aloud to your kids. Let them pick the book and be sure to add lots of fun voices and sound effects.
- Sort through the closets and pick out the clothes and toys that can be donated to PATH or the Salvation Army. It's a great way to kill some time and teach your children the importance of giving.
- Make your kids the stars of the show. Ask them to act out a scene from their favorite movie, read their favorite book with a different voice for each character or sing their favorite song for you (we'll provide the music!)
- Take a nature walk, in a nearby park or even your backyard. Look for tracks and try to identify what left them. Think of what each animal might be looking for in the snow.
More ideas here and, of course, on Google.
Most importantly: Stay safe, have fun and enjoy God's gift of snow while it lasts!
